On Thursday 11th February, Dr Charles "Snuffy" Myers, a highly-respected American medical oncologist, spoke on the subject of "Advanced Prostate Cancer – How to Tailor Treatment for Your Disease".
It was an excellent presentation. Dr Myers said that he could have spoken for at least 8 hours wihout repeating himself, but he contained it to 90 minutes, including questions and discussion.

Immediately prior to Dr Myers' presentation, Graham Johnson, Chairman of PCFA, presented Robert Phillips with PCFA's highest award, the Max Gardner Award for distinguished service, citing Robert's highly effective presidency of our group since its inception in 2004. Congratulations Robert.
Walking for Men's Health, July 2009
Our Walk for men's Health was in July 2009. The walk was in the Pound Bend Reserve, Warrandyte on Sunday,
5th July. The walk was organised by Mrs Frances Bohan on behalf of the Banyule Council, and this one
was also run for the support of our group in promoting awareness of prostate cancer.
We provided suitably-worded T-shirts and handed out printed material – "show bags".
There were about 25 walkers and 5 helpers.
We walked for a little over an hour and came back to a very welcome BBQ
lunch organised by Noel and Laurel Blinman and the chef, Bob Kingston. Many thanks caterers!
Mr Brian Tee MP made a short speech and presented Certificates of Walk Completion to those who qualified.
We acknowledge with thanks the support of the East Ivanhoe Community Bendigo Bank and the Banyule Watsonia RSL Trust.

Art Show, 2008
This was a combined Awareness and Art Show function conducted in the Eltham Community and Reception Centre,
with the attraction of the presence of local artists, including John Withers, grandson of Walter Withers.
The theme of the evening was the Heidelberg School of Artists, and those attending were invited
to dress as late nineteenth century artists. Prizes were awarded for the best-dressed man, woman and child.
We are most grateful to the Nillumbik Council for their donation
of the hire of the venue, and to Eltham Little Theatre for the loan of costumes.
